Pittsburgh News-day Tuesday

Another Pittsburgh Tuesday, another serious fail in traffic on the way into work today.  I saw yet another accident on Route 28 that could of easily been prevented had the person stopped doing her make-up.  I guess you could say as I get older I believe in Darwin’s law more and more.  What can you do though, just as long as I’m not involved in any of those activities and I’m being safe, it’s all up to a higher power protecting me.

Moving on to the actual news day portion of the article, some good things are going on, and I’m here to comment on them.  Check them out, read during your lunch hour if you want to.  All quality and worth the read.

Just a bit of traffic insanity out there, the Parkway ramps down by the wharf have been closed due to possible flooding.  Weather has been acting crazy as of late, and I’m actually having trouble on who to blame… – http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10026/1031161-100.stm?cmpid=latest.xml

This also is grouped with the article posted above.  It deals with this crazy weather we’re having and how it’s affecting the commuters negatively.  Like we all didn’t see this negative effect coming – http://kdka.com/local/flooding.heavy.rains.2.1447486.html

After Conner scored two goals last night for the Pittsburgh Penguins in their rout of the New York Rangers, both Conner and Johnson were re-assigned to the Pittsburgh Penguins AHL affiliate.  Sad to see them go, but this means that players like Talbot, Dupuis, and possibly Kunitz are coming back to see action in the upcoming days – http://kdka.com/local/conner.johnson.reassigned.2.1449526.html

The Penguins power-play is making somewhat of a resurgence as of late.  It’s been one of the reasons the Pens have struggled as of late, but here’s to it coming together and them finding the right groove to scoring.  The Penguins are a magnificent team, the power-play has dogged them, once it’s better, not too much can stop them – http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/s_663872.html

Moving onto the Pittsburgh Steelers section, View From The Press Box, makes an argument for re-signing one of the Steelers best kickers ever, Jeff Reed.  I actually can’t stand Reed as a person, but their on point with how good he is kicking at one of the absolutely worst fields in history to kick at.  It’s worth the read, so check it out – http://blog.triblive.com/view-from-the-press-box

Heath Miller as underrated as he his, has finally be recognized and will be attending the Pro-Bowl.  If there is someone who’s deserved it, it’s Heath.  He’s the consummate pro on and off the field.  He’s clutch, and has to be considered as one of the best all around tight-ends in the game.  It’s very hard to find a guy who can black extremely well, and rarely drop the ball.  Congrats to Heath! – http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/steelers/s_663938.html

CAPA is standing together and protesting the alleged beating of Jordan Miles, by three undercover police officers.  This is a sketchy story to post about, but it needs to be put out there.  I’ve seen his pictures after the beating, and they are repulsive.  If nothing was going on that night, the cops should be looked at as criminals, plain and simple. http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/breaking/s_664113.html

Last but not least, Hill District residents are also looking for change.  I thought they were promised shopping centers and all of that when they decided to put the new Console Energy Arena there?  Either way, they are calling for some shopping or things to do in and around their area. – http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/cityregion/s_664064.html

This is where I must make a plug for my new fan page for YinzPitt.com.  It’s on Facebook, and I know most of you if not all of you have accounts.  Check it out, become a fan and spread the word.  Without viewers, this site doesn’t exist.  Thankfully I have great visitors and readers, and it’s something I’d certainly love to expand.
