What a weekend! A total of 24 inches dropped on our beloved city of Pittsburgh, and actually looks to drop another 6-8 inches this week! Saturday was absolutely unbelievable. My car was literally buried(thanks to a little help from PennDOTT). It took roughly 8 hours digging out all of our cars, and it was just ridiculous how much snow had dropped in a span of 12-18 hours.
Below in this article, I’ll be showing you photos from the actual snow that had dropped on Saturday night, and what basically stopped everyone in it’s tracks. It was intense, but the pictures were actually pretty cool! They were taken from my phone, but I’m going to take my actual camera out tonight or sometime this week after the new snow falls and take some pictures.
Introducing picture one:
This is actually my car. You can see the antenna, and the window barely. Other than that, nothing. It was covered in a 5 foot high pile of snow. This wasn’t the work of natural snow, that picture will come later. This was the work of PennDOTT, it took me nearly 2 hours to dig my car out because this basically built a re-enforced wall of ice and snow against my car. Not only was it as tall as my car, it was about 4 feet wide, from my car to the road. It was harder than hell to move, but all in all it was pretty fun to dig the car out.
I guess a word of the wise to all of you who have side street parking. If this happened to you this weekend, I feel for you. At all costs, if you can avoid parking next to the road, don’t do it! I had no choice, and I paid for it in the end. Now let’s move on to the second picture:
This picture was taken before we actually started trying to dig out our cars. This is natural snow fall, and it actually engulfed more than half of the cars in the picture. Not only was this snow plentiful, it was heavy. Which in turn made for not such a fun time in trying to actually get all three of our cars out. The best thing about all of this I guess is that we talked to all of our neighbors and helped each other out.
However, there is more concern than excitement at this point. I made it into work today, however Pittsburgh was an absolute mess. It’s obvious they weren’t prepared for this storm, even if they were the city of Pittsburgh did a terrible job, because they knew about this storm like everyone else, and it really seems like nothing is done.
Another storm is on the way, so be prepared and be careful. Supposedly another 6-8 inches is on the way, so it could get even more hectic as this week goes on.

Nice photos & sentiment! Ha ha ha. I feel the pain of getting plowed in. With my wife & I working together, it took about 3 hours to un-bury the cars. All we have is on-street parking on our street in Dormont.
We did have a nice little neighborhood shoveling party on Saturday & Sunday. Everyone kind’ve helped each other out. It was a nice thing to see.

We have shots of the park on Friday night, the snowfall total on Saturday morning, and the aftermath on Sunday.
