So this past weekend, we dove back into the city we work in daily, and came out with a refreshed look on what was happening inside of the limits. Saturday was just an overall awesome day to be in the city, wonderful weather, people everywhere, and it just really couldn’t get any nicer.
We visited Phipp’s Conservatory, which was beyond awesome. The weather I think had a large part in making it feel wonderful. Of course it was hot outside, however inside the Phipp’s, it was just burning. I know, I know, it was a greenhouse basically, but nothing actually felt better than feeling like it was a dry August day. Schenley Park was awesome too. It’s nice to feel like you’re not in a big city, but in all actuality, you’re basically almost in the middle of it.
From there, we then went down to the Hofbrauhaus in the South Side. It was a blast, and it was a that Mother’s Day our families were able to get together and enjoy a great night out. Also, I must make mention, if you’re in Pittsburgh and you’re looking for a different/exciting night out, head there. The German parties and singing is just out of this world fun. I think it’s safe to say that we all had a blast, and my Mom loved it. It’s not very often I get to take her out and show her where I live and play, so it was a very good thing to get to do that for her.
Sunday however was a different story. I avoided Pittsburgh like the plague, the marathon, for the people I know that went, was a blast. They enjoyed every second of it, including the detour that happened because of a supposed “bomb” threat/defusion. In fact, if you’d like to read about the actual story, check out this link: Pittsburgh Marathon Bomb Scare . I guess it turned out to be a scary situation, but it was apparent after the “bomb” was set off, it wasn’t a threat. You can never be too careful though.
Finally, to all the University of Pittsburgh students that graduated, congrats. Oakland was a real Zoo on Saturday afternoon.
