So far, this NCAA tournament has provided some very good shock moments this year. I might even go as far as saying, that yesterday was the best day in tournament history in terms of upsets. Usually, it’s just one team that makes it, and then is bestowed the “Cinderella” tag. However yesterday, Robert Morris University(RMU) almost upset Villanova AND the refs, Georgetown lost, and the highly overrated Notre Dame team lost to Old Dominion.
Which brings me to my largest complaint of the year regarding college sports. They claim this is a loss for the Big East in terms of teams losing, however, all of these teams with the exception of Villanova, were the bottom seeds. It’s not like it should really come as a major shock that they lost. Not to mention that the so called “Big Boys” of the East haven’t even started playing until today, which WVU has already handily beat their opponent.
So you already have WVU advancing to the next round, Syracuse barring some act of God, is a lock, Louisville is always a beast, and then you have Pitt. Probably one of the most enigmatic teams out there, anything can really happen with them. I don’t really have any expectations for them this year, as they should be happy they just made it to the tournament. Without a doubt I’m going to be cheering my heart out for the boys, but before we go ahead and crown the whole Big East division a bust, let’s wait and see what the teams who haven’t played yet have to say.
