Well with the G-20 summit nearing, the secret service has been working on possible places that will close in order to safely secure the area near the David L. Lawrence convention center. In order to understand the complexity of this situation and the trouble it could cause for commuters as well as businesses in the surrounding area, it’s safe to say the upcoming week is going to be a nightmare for everyone, and an image must be shown to show the craziness.
It’s also safe to say wherever your working be careful and safe for what could potentially happen, especially in the likes of the University of Pittsburgh and Forbes area. As this is the designated for protesting and such for various parades throughout the meetings. I for one, am still in shock that the G-20 is even coming here, as this area doesn’t seem fit or feel well enough for anyone to come here and discuss current economics. Various buildings and business are closed with boards or aren’t pretty enough to be considered worth looking at and covered with tarp. Did I mention the long standing Bayer sign on the top of Mount Washington will be covered as well because it’s an ‘eyesore?’ This is where our local government and various political grouping fails as a whole. Leave everything like it should be and show these people how us Yinzers live. Sure, the city smells at various times during the day, and were often jaywalkers, but that’s everywhere. Covering us up and trying to make us look prettier than we are isn’t worth it, and as the mayor who will re-name himself G-20stal for the week should know, isn’t true to the city. Either way, it’s sure to cause nothing but headaches, missed work, and more than a buttload of possible threats, juvenile crime, and other various acts.
