Well, I’m working on a calendar based system to try and get all of these events issues hashed out. For now though, I’m going to do it manually in table form below so I can still keep up to date somewhat on events happening daily around the city of Pittsburgh.
Halloween is a great time of the year for people to embrace all of the things they did as a child. It’s also a wonderful time to dress up and go to parties, or go to haunted houses around the area, as an escape to the daily routine and get the adrenaline pumping. It’s funny though, aside from the bigger haunted house attractions (ScareHouse, Phantom Fright Nights), not to many people go to the local ones that do a great job and could be cost effective for a night out with friends and family as well. So listed below, is a list of 20 big and small haunted houses in the immediate Pittsburgh area, and some rural ones too! Each place listed, is linked to direct it’s respective site if it has one.
| Nightmare at Station Scare- Pittsburgh, PA | Creepy Hollow – Hookstown, PA |
| Hundred Acres Manor – South Park, PA | Cheeseman’s Fright Farm – Portersville, PA |
| HALLOWBOO! – Ligonier, PA | Demon House – Monongahela, PA |
| The Orphanage – Brookline, PA | Freddy’s Haunts – Aliquippa, PA |
| Jeepers Creepers (for Kids) – Allegheny, PA | Haunted Hills Estate – Uniontown, PA |
| Night of the Singing Dead, #17 – Pittsburgh, PA | Haunted Hills Hayride – North Versailles, PA |
| Phantom Fright Nights – Kennywood, PA | Haunted History Hayride – Jeannette, PA |
| ScareHouse – Etna, PA | Haunted Mine at Tour-Ed Mine – Fawn, PA |
| Allen’s Haunted Hayrides – Smock, PA | Haunted Ride – Heilwood, PA |
| Castle Blood – Bealsville, PA | Lonesome Valley Farms Haunted Hayride – Greensburg, PA |
So there you have it, 20 local haunted houses, and events you could attend during this month of October! Also, if your looking to make a road-trip out of a possible haunted house, head down to Moundsville West Virginia and go check out the Dungeon of Horrors at the West Virginia Penitentiary. Pretty intense stuff I’ve heard and I surely want to check it out! Also, if you have any other places or ideas you would like to add, feel free to leave a comment. I’ll give you credit and a link to your site or twitter if you have it. Thanks!
