LenDale White doesn’t take kindly to towels.

LenDale White of the Tennessee Titans wants to make one thing clear, for this Thursday’s rematch of the Steelers Vs. Titans, and the kick-off of the NFL.  He does not regret stepping on the Terrible Towel.  As most of the people know here in Pittsburgh, the Terrible Towel is as sacred to us as the holy grail.  The Terrible Towel was created in 1975 by famous broad caster Myron Cope(R.I.P) and it’s become “arguably the best-known fan symbol of any major pro sports team”.

During last years drubbing of the Steelers, players such as White, Kearse, and Bullock all stomped, dance, and cleaned their shoes with the towel to celebrate their victory and their clinching of the AFC.  Personally, it’s not that big of a deal to me.  In fact, to me it’s a towel, and I’m sure to most of the players it’s just a towel.  The meaning behind the towel certainly does support the rah rah go get them attitude of our proud city, but the importance of the towel is to raise charity for the Pennsylvania schools who help teach and help kids with mental and physical disabilities.

I also can’t say I don’t want them to sing and dance on our towel either.  I think it’s hilarious when anyone does it, because the last two times  someone has done that we’ve taken home the Super Bowl Trophy.  But, LenDale certainly did make one thing clear when asked about the fate of their team and the “superstition” behind the towel.

“If it happens to be there, I’m going to stomp all over that [pause], man,” the running back told reporters after practice Sunday. “If there’s a towel in the stands, I will stomp on it. I don’t care who gets mad. … If they throw a towel at me, I’m going to kick it and stomp all over it. If they don’t want their towel stomped on, keep it out my face.”

That comment certainly seemed as if it was personal.  While LenDale said that, another Titan, Jevon Kearse took a different approach to what happened last year.

“I’m not even paying attention to that anymore. It happened. It’s in the past,” Kearse said, according to The Nashville City Paper. “That was last season. It happened last season, so what? If they want to use that as motivation, let them go ahead and use that as motivation. I mean, rah, rah, rah. We stomped on a towel, so what? That’s what we were supposed to do in our house.”

This is the sentiment I agree with.  If you need that towel as extra motivation in trying to beat a team, you shouldn’t be playing.  The one thing that is a guarantee for this Thursday as White puts it while talking about the atmosphere it’s going to be ; “loud one, a loud, mean, evil one.”

Thursday can’t get here soon enough!
