In a sad turn of events, Joseph Dado, 18, was found dead on Monday after a search had began when he went missing. He was last seen alive leaving Phi Gamma Delta, around 3AM. Penn State’s university newspaper The Collegian reported that maintenance workers found his body in a stairwell around 6pm Monday.
It is reported that he fell 15 feet to his death, and an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the final cause. Now, was alcohol or drugs involved? If they were, what does that spell for the Phi Gamma Delta? Should repercussions be taken if their are those types of things found in his system and can be confirmed that they were at the party/house?
I would be highly surprised if this young man majoring in engineering wasn’t under the influence of something. If he was, then it’s a tragedy all it’s own under the list of other young people experimenting with various drugs and alcohol. I can’t really speak though because I’m 23 and did the same exact thing at 18. It’s just a terrible slope, when party’s and things escalate to far and people can’t control themselves.
This is the type of thing that happens on a weekly basis and happens way to close to home, way to often. He was a graduate of Latrobe Senior High School and their Assistant Principal Steven LoCascio stated:
“Joe’s a wonderful young man – he was an absolute pleasure to have in the building,” Assistant Principal Steven LoCascio said. “He was a very good student, as evidenced by the fact that he was going to a fine institution like Penn State. He was a nice athlete as well – very well-liked by peers and students.”
In the end, another young man with a bright future ahead of him, has been taken away to quickly.
