There’s at least one thing we can talk about in a positive light(when dealing with this economy). Pittsburgh has looked like it’s shielded itself a slowish economy, and actually been a positive year for small business, and large company start ups.

It’s 2010, and you of course figure the Pirates are still fumbling everything around that they can possibly fumble….well, their 2010 MLB draft is considered largely as a success with the two signings of prospect power arms Jameson Taillon and second-rounder Stetson Allie — on Monday to wrap up a signing period in which the organization inked a total of 27 players….

We all knew this was going to happen. I personally could have seen it coming from a mile away, and on Saturday night it became real. Dennis Dixon looked quality during his time on the field. He moved the ball with his arm going 6 for 7…

This has been garnering a lot of the Pittsburgh talk shows time as of late. Should Ben Roethlisberger play on Saturday? I say absolutely yes and without a doubt be playing Saturday….

On August 28th, the Consol Energy Center will be hosting an open house at the arena, and all fans are invited to attend. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning (8/12) at 10:00 AM, available from the CEC box office and Ticketmaster.com, if you don’t mind the $40 convenience charges.

I’ve got a report here saying that the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, has won various awards from Casino Player Magazine.Supposedly, the biggest award for Pennsylvania was the Best Overall Gaming Resort, and The Rivers Casino took it home.

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the shooting that took place at LA Fitness in Collier. George Sodini took the life of 3 women, injured 9 more, and then took his own life. It was a sad and sickening day, and it’s turned into a moment that I’ll never forget, as well as many others….

Luke Ravenstahl and Dan Onorato can’t be happy about this. Their highly “touted” economic boost project failed, and it’s failed hard. Not to mention that it’s failing and it’s not even open up yet. The North Shore Connector has been rated the 3rd highest wasteful spending project by stimulus tax payer money. That just isn’t great news to hear, in fact, people of Pittsburgh should be outraged….
