PennDOT Delays Route 28 Demolition…

PennDot will be delaying the demolition of a few houses around the 31st street bridge until last this week.  Here’s the press release from KDKA.com:

Work to demolish buildings along Route 28 near the 31st Street Bridge has been put on hold until later this week.

PennDOT has not announced when they will resume the work, but once it does motorists can expect some traffic issues.

The work will be conducted from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily through Sept. 30.

The good news is that there are no expected long-term traffic restrictions as a result.

There will be brief lane closures and five to 10 minute stoppages for crews to move equipment into and out of position.

Any necessary traffic restrictions will be implemented between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The work is being done as part of the Route 28 East Ohio Street Improvement Project.

Motorists are being asked to allow for extra time when traveling through the area and to slow down for the changing traffic patterns.

For more information about the project and other work being done by PennDOT, you can visit 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone.

So if you’re a Route 28 commuter like me, please be prepared for the oncoming headaches associated with this project.
