The new year is almost upon us! It’s almost that time to ring in a great year, or pass out before the ball drops if you’re over the drinking age. I’m here to bring you updates on what’s going to be happening around the city and what you can expect during the New Year celebration in Pittsburgh.
Easily the biggest celebration in the city is Pittsburgh’s First Night, and it takes place in the cultural district of Pittsburgh. It’s family oriented too, so if your looking to celebrate with your family, this is the best place to take your children hands down. First Night is described as:
Explore more than 100 programs at nearly 50 locations across the Cultural District, 90% of which take place indoors. There’s dance, music, comedy, hands-on activities, theater, visual arts, a gallery crawl, a parade and of course, fireworks! First Night is the perfect place for an art-filled start to the New Year.
About the only thing that’s going to cost you heavy is the parking. Arrive early, and there is an entrance fee. It’s only 5 dollars for the all-access buttons and kids under 5 are free. A pretty good deal and with a cheap gate price, it couldn’t be more cost effective than it is.
If you’re actually interested in going and are will to make the trek to Pittsburgh, you can purchase buttons here: http://www.firstnightpgh.org/page_builder.aspx?SubNavigationID=39&NavigationID=33
The schedule of events for Pittsburgh’s First Night can also be found here: http://www.firstnightpgh.org/programs.aspx
I’m all about bringing you the information needed so you don’t have to search for it. Have fun if you’re going and be safe!
Moving on to events happening for the over 21 drinking crowd, it gets a ton more convoluted as to what’s going on during New Years. If your into searching for a bar to pay the cover fee/reserve fee, it shouldn’t be to hard to find one of those. Just look up the bar you’re thinking about attending and see if they have any information on their website.
*UPDATE*
Thanks to the commenter below, regarding the Tick Tock Rock. It’s not happening this year. Some awesome person left the information on the back end of their site, and it’s actually been canceled.
