Pittsburgh Sports News

We’ve got a plethora of things going on in the Pittsburgh Sports world to talk about today.  From the Pittsburgh Steelers, to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and yes, even the Pittsburgh Pirates.

We’ll start with the Pittsburgh Steelers first, better yet, we’ll start with Hines Ward taking things public yet again in terms of himself and the rest of the team.  I do not condone this type of activity, I do not personally enjoy it when something is aired out into the public let alone national television.  After Hines Ward had made comments about a concussion that kept Ben Roethlisberger out of the Ravens game last year, I thought Hines would have learned a lesson.  Do you think he did?  Nope.  He proceeded to go on live national television again and comment on how Ben should sit the team down and explain what happened that night in Georgia.

He was quoted as saying:

“A lot of players really don’t know the situation, other than what we hear in the news or the media,” Ward said.  “I think when he addresses the whole team going into training camp, we can all put it behind us and move forward.”

Oh ok Hines, that’s all well and good.  I mean one should EXPECT to hear the real truth behind a situation that’s been a troublesome spot for a player who’s technically not even legally allowed to talk about it yet.  The ONLY thing Ben has to do is apologize, which he’s done emphatically over the past few weeks.  Leave it at that Hines, just shut up, put your pads on and play football.

Moving on to the Pittsburgh Penguins, it looks like Dan Hamhuis and Sergei Gonchar are both leaning on heading to free agency.  Which really isn’t a great thing, because we’ve lost one of the best defensive scorers in the NHL, and a possible shut down d-man.  Let’s see what’s being said out there regarding the situation, and upcoming Free Agency tomorrow:

Pens Universe has all things regarding Free Agency.  They do and will do better than I ever could in terms of breaking down money and terms.  Check it out.

Dan Hamhuis likely to hit open market.

Sergei Gonchar and Pittsburgh Penguins put off contract talks it seems

So while this may all be possibly bad news, it’s July 1st.  Everyone is going to get their due justice and paid accordingly.  I’m just hoping the Penguins can shape their team into another cup contender.

Oh yea, the Pirates.  Well, they suck.

Jason Jaramillo of the Pirates, sucking it up.
