Pittsburgh Steelers Make First Roster Cuts Of 2010

Today is the day that hundreds of potential players all over the league will have their hopes and dreams crushed for the time being.  Teams must trim their roster list down to 75 and continue to drudge on through the pre-season.  So far the Pittsburgh Steelers have cut their players, and below is the list of people who won’t be returning.

According to a statement from the team, the Steelers have waived guard Adrian Jones, cornerback David Pittman, linebacker Brandon Renkart and fullback Dwayne Wright.

None of those players suited up for the Steelers last season.

In addition to those moves, the Steelers placed rookie guard Chris Scott on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.

Scott is expected to be sidelined for six weeks with a foot injury. After six weeks, he’ll be allowed to practice with the Steelers for three weeks before a decision will be made about adding him to the active roster.

Scott was placed on the PUP list at the beginning of training camp.

The Steelers also released linebacker Andre Frazier, who helped the team win their last two Super Bowls.

Frazier was released from the injured reserve list.

So now that we know what’s going on, we look to see how the Steelers adapt in their last game during the pre-season.  If any hopefuls really wanted a shot, this is the time to do it.  The fourth game of the pre-season is when mostly all of the starters play a few snaps and rest.  Good luck to them all.
