The Pittsburgh Steelers made some moves today.  Limas Sweed was put on the Non Injury IR, and the Steelers long snapper was put on the injury IR after being injured in the Packers – Steelers game.

I guess it comes more of a shock that Sweed was put on this type of IR.  Either he’s sick and unable to preform, or he’s fallen so far out of favor that he’s going to be shut down for the year, and probably either cut and or traded.  The crappy thing is, without an explanation for the IR move, it’s got to put him on the low value market for any sort of draft day trade.

With the movement of putting Sweed on the IR, comes the signing of 38 year old Joey Galloway.  The dude was drafted in 1995 from the Seattle Seahawks, and has been pretty decent for a long time in the NFL.

His last playing time came this year with the Patriots but was released on October 20th.  During that short span he amassed a staggering seven passes for 67 yards (9.6 avg.)  Not really surprising numbers as he was their 3rd and or 4th wide receiver out there on certain packages.  Here’s to him hopefully doing some good and providing an extra spark on the 4 wide sets that Arians lovingly likes to do when the Steelers abandoned the run.

Moving on to the long snapper situation dealing with Greg Warren hitting the IR today.  He apparently was injured on the last play that he was in, and tore his ACL.  He did it last year, so I’m not sure if it was a re-tear on the same knee or what, but that’s sad, and here’s to a speedy recovery.  This also means that the Steelers have re-signed Jared Retkofsky, who played with the Steelers last year to take over the long-snapping duties.

Hopefully we can keep this one game win streak alive heading into Baltimore this week.
