This has been garnering a lot of the Pittsburgh talk shows time as of late. Should Ben Roethlisberger play on Saturday? I say absolutely yes and without a doubt he’d be playing Saturday. Ok ok, I know there aren’t fans of the “he should start instantly thinking”, and those fans are very passionate when it comes to “morals.” However look at it this way, let’s find out how the entire crowd is going to react to Ben playing in the game.
Will they boo? Will they walk out? Or will they simply give him a half assed cheer and that’s that. Plain and simple, no one is going to know how the fans are going to handle this situation. I don’t know either to be honest, which is why I’m thinking that the Pittsburgh Steelers just need to get him out there, find out what the expectations are and go from there.
I mean, look at it this way. To the people that want him benched, and in all honesty, have all the reason in the world to say that. However, would you want him benched all the way up to the end of his suspension and then have to deal with all of this, how will the fans react hooplah on top of the media crush the Steelers are going to deal with?
The last thing I think I’d want is for the situation to become bigger than the Steelers, I mean I understand that it will most likely end up being all about “Ben” come week 4 or 6 depending on the suspension, but I think if he played these pre-season games, the media would report now about how the fans are perceiving him. It’s just one giant question mark at this point, and either way, I can’t wait to figure out what happens. Once this is all over, it’s going to be a good day for Steeler nation.
That being said…how do you feel on the subject? Should he play? With what group of players should he get his snaps with? Or should he sit until his suspension is over?
