Steelers/Pitt Take Control

Well, I’m back from the holidays and I can only say one thing really.  It went way to fast to even be considered an awesome break.  It literally went from Wednesday to Sunday night in what felt like two hours.  I just can’t stand how that plays out most of the time.  What can you do though, back to work and all is right with the world.

With that wonderful news of constant work days and long hours again, a few good things happened over the weekend.  Pitt won the bowl they played in against a good North Carolina team, and the Steelers beat their hated rivals, the Ravens.  With Pitt’s football season over, great signs have shown that their team is on the right path, and heading in a great direction.  This is their first 10 win season since the Marino days, and it’s great to be back where they should have been all along.  I’m also in the boat that, Dave Wannstedt shouldn’t be removed every time Pitt has a bad game.  I’ve often hated the stache, but he’s won me over this year in terms of team production and recruiting.

I’m also excited for the University of Pittsburgh next year because of the potential awesome they have provided throughout the year.  Dion Lewis is a machine, and I’m pumped that the Panthers have him on our side of the ball.  I’m also amazed that he wasn’t highly recruited at all.  He can run for days.  Bill Stull is leaving, and I’ve been incredibly hard on him during his career, but to be fair, he’s been a joke up until this year.  Here’s to a better year and a more important bowl game next year for the Panthers.

Moving on to the Steelers, it sure was a great win for them.  They beat their rivals, and not only that, kept their hopes alive in trying to make the play-offs.  While they need help from teams all around them, and a little bit of luck.  As long as they keep playing and coming back like the way they have for the past two weeks, maybe we can get in and do some damage while nobody gives them any credit….kinda like 2005.

Not to mention the awesome win, but a ton of records were broke yesterday during the game.  Big Ben Reothlisberger has a 4,000 yard season, Hines and Tone have two 1,000 yards receiving season a piece, and Mendenhall has rushed for 1,000 yards this year.  THe only alarming thing was that aside from the penalties, the Ravens would have smoked the defense had they not shot their selves in the foot so many times yesterday.  The only thing I can tell to the people who are starting to believe these Steelers are for real, don’t get your hopes up, all kinds of things need to take place even for them to think about getting in.

So here’s to a great holiday season taking place and an even better new year upon us!
