That’s about as creative as I can get for the title this morning, and it’s not for lack of effort. It’s because I simply just can’t think after a weekend good vibes, and pretty decent Penguin wins.
On Saturday, the Pens hosted the Flyers, and simply handed it to them in every way possible. This game was the absolute first time that I’ve ever seen the Flyers just lay down. I don’t think I recall in 24 years of my life them not stirring the pot, fighting, or doing anything to injure someone stupidly(aside from running the goalie as always).
I must say, watching Scott Hartnell lean on his stick, and then fall down as it breaks is hilarious. I just can’t stand him as a hockey player. He’s more of an agitator than anything in hockey. He gets paid to play like a scoring power forward, but he can even barely do that. I will say this though, outside of hockey he seems like an awesome dude. NHLTV did a reply of a day in the life with him prior to him joining the Flyers, and it turned out that he was pretty funny and did/does a ton of charity work.
The last thing I have to ask to any Flyers fan, is how did the trade for Pronger work out? Your organization is practically screwed, by re-signing him to a long deal worth lots of money. Wasn’t he basically brought in to protect the goalie from Crosby burning him so many times? Every time Pronger plays the Pens, he ends up taking a stupid penalty that costs the team. Smart move Philly, smart move. Instead of getting a legit goalie(I know you’re on your 500th replacement with all the injuries), you went for the hitter and “physical” guy. Who knows what the Flyers situation would of looked like had you went for Giguere instead.
Sucks to be you.
Of course, moving on with Giguere, and his new team, the Maple Leafs. The Pens and Leafs squared off Sunday in a rare 5pm game, and the Pens ended up winning in the shoot-out. It was an exciting game with great back and forth action. It was also the game I figured the guy we traded away, Luca Caputi, would put one in against us. It usually happens most times with the Pens, so I was surprised it didn’t with this game. All in all, Crosby almost had a hat trick.
Ps. Don’t throw hats out on the ice when a player scores in the Shoot-out. It doesn’t count as a goal for the player, it’s a team goal instead.
Finally, as the Pens and the rest of the NHL are gearing up for the play-offs, I am as well, by watching this 2009 Play-off promo featuring City and Colour singing Sleeping Sickness, to the play-off highlights from last year. It’s about as emotional as it gets if you’re a die-hard fan like myself. It’s extremely motivation as well. It pretty much makes me want to punch someone. So check it out:
